Universities in Italy have only one intake that starts in September. The semester begins in September and lasts till January-February. Since only one September intake in Italy is available, it is important to apply early and avoid missing the deadline.
In Italy, the First Cycle or Bachelor’s courses are 3 years long and the Second Cycle courses (Master’s degree) are for 2 years. Doctorate or medicine courses are generally longer and last up to 5 years. Although, there are a few Master’s courses in Italy that are 1 year long.
Some Italian universities have their own entrance exams for international students, especially for a bachelor’s degree. But for language proficiency, IELTS and TOEFL are generally accepted by all universities for admission to English-taught courses. The score required may vary with the course selected.
